Advanced-Intermediate-SEC Level (AIO)

Duration

  • 2 Years

Course Content

  • Students are allowed to take a maximum of four subjects at any level, with a minimum of one subject at Advanced or Intermediate Level.
  • Students cannot choose all four subjects at MQF Level 3 (SEC) or at Advanced Level.
  • Choosing three subjects at Advanced Level is dependent on timetable constraints.
  • Students who do not possess the complete entry requirements for the AIO course, can join the AIO Foundation Programme.

Subject Choice

  • Subjects may be chosen at any level, as explained in the Course Content above.
  • No subject may be taken at both advanced and intermediate level.
  • Choice of subjects may be dependent on timetable constraints.

  • Languages: Arabic, English, French, German, Italian, Maltese, Maltese as a Foreign Language, Spanish
  • Humanities: Accounting, Classical Studies, Economics, Geography, History, Marketing, Philosophy, Psychology, Religious Knowledge, Sociology 
  • Sciences: Applied Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Computing, Environmental Science, Physics, Pure Mathematics 
  • Arts & Technology: Art, Engineering Drawing & Graphical Communication, Home Economics & Human Ecology, Information Technology, Music, Physical Education, Theatre & Performance Studies, Systems of Knowledge (SOK) 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students must have a minimum of four passes at MQF Level 3 (or equivalent).

    • Passes must be in the Secondary Education Certificate (SEC) at MQF Level 3 issued by MATSEC or at MQF Level 3 for those subjects not offered by MATSEC.

      • The DQSE accredited GEM16+ Level 3 certificate is equivalent to one pass.

    • Students who do not possess the complete entry requirements for the AIO course, can join the AIO Foundation Programme. Applicants with onetwo or three passes at MQF Level 3 (or equivalent) can study up to a maximum of one, two or three subjects respectively at any level. It is strongly advised that prospective students of this programme consult with the guidance and counselling team prior to application.
