Choosing HISTORY

History deals with past human experiences and, therefore, it provides a better understanding of current affairs and future developments.

The Advanced level course covers Maltese, International & Mediterranean History (1789 ā€“ 2004). In the examination, the papers (3) are set in English and answers are to be given in English.

The Intermediate level covers Maltese & European History (1789 ā€“ 1921). In the examination, the paper (1 paper) is set in English and answers are to be given in English.

Special Considerations

All courses require a good working knowledge of the English language.

The teaching programme is supplemented by:

  • Visits to the National Archives and to other historical places related to the syllabi topics.

Further Studies/Career opportunities

  • University of Malta. History is a required subject for International Relations. It is a great asset for courses in law, archival studies, archaeology and European Studies
