School Calendar

The school calendar outlines important dates, events, holidays, and other key information that will guide our school community throughout the year.

Annual Events

Freshers’ Days at GCHSS is an annual event at the start of the scholastic year that welcomes new students with engaging activities, orientation sessions and opportunities to connect with fellow students and staff.

The Christmas Village is a heartwarming event where the school community comes together to support charitable causes. It features various stalls, activities, and initiatives that raise funds for those in need. Last year’s event was very successful. With the contribution of students and staff, GCHSS presented €4500 to Dar tal-Providenza. Prospective students who may wish to participate in the next Christmas Village event are to contactthe school administration.

GCHSS is committed to preparing students for their future beyond post-secondary education. Throughout the year, GCHSS hosts various informative sessions and career talks featuring guest speakers from diverse fields. These sessions offer invaluable insights into diverse career paths, empowering our students to make well-informed decisions regarding their future endeavors.

Throughout the year GCHSS promotes physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship through a variety of sports activities and friendly tournaments. These activities include football, basketball, handball, volleyball, and more, and takeplace both on and off campus in collaboration with other sixth forms.

Parents’ Day is an occasion where parents and guardians are invited to visit our school and engage with teachers and the school community. It is a useful and well sought opportunity for meaningful interactions between parents, students, and all members of staff.

The GCHSS annual soirée gives our students a platform to showcase their artistic talents, incorporating theatre, music, dance, drama and art. The activity usually takes place over three performances in the third week of January and highlights the artistic flair of our school community.

Past performances include Rock the Rhapsody, Teen Beach: The Musical and Little Women. Auditions usually take place in October and are open to all GCHSS students in acting, backstage and more.

Library Week, a highlight of the library calendar, is held at the beginning of the second term each year.

A theme is chosen annually, and various activities are organized around this theme. In addition to displaying books and presenting their film adaptations, the library collaborates with different subject departments to conduct activities and discussions that delve deeper into the chosen topic. Invited guests from outside the school also visit to engage with students in the library.

Furthermore, an art competition related to the topic is organized. The winning entries are framed and displayed in the library.

During Wellbeing Week, the emphasis is placed on student wellbeing and mental health. This week is packed with interactive activities and informative talks delivered by professionals. These sessions cover a wide range of topics, including drug misuse, eating disorders, mental health, nutrition, exercise, volunteering, mindfulness, and emotional regulation.

The organization of wellbeing week is a collaborative effort between the school counselor, the guidance team, and the senior management team of the school.

On Graduation Day, students celebrate their academic achievements and bid farewell to their years at GCHSS. It is a formal ceremony full of pride and accomplishment, marking the transition to the next phase of their lives.

The GCHSS Open Day offers prospective students and their families a chance to explore the school facilities, meet members of staff, and learn about the courses and programmes on offer. It is an informative event that helps students make informed decisions about the way forward with their educational journey.
