Course Content & Choice of Subjects

  • Students are allowed to take a maximum of four subjects at any level with a minimum of one subject at Advanced or Intermediate Level. 
  • Students cannot choose all four subjects at SEC/O Level or Advanced Level. 
  • No subject may be taken at both advanced and intermediate level.
  • Choice of subjects may be dependent on timetable constraints. 

Subject Groups

Group 1: Languages
Arabic, English, French, German, Italian, Maltese, Spanish 

Group 2: Humanities
Accounting, Classical Studies, Economics, Geography, History, Marketing, Philosophy, Psychology, Religious Knowledge, Sociology 

Group 3: Sciences
Applied Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Computing, Environmental Science, Physics, Pure Mathematics 

Group 4: Arts & Technology
Art, Graphical Communication, Home Economics & Human Ecology, Information Technology, Music, Physical Education, Theatre & Performance Studies (Drama), Systems of Knowledge (SOK) 

Eligibility Criteria

Regular Students

Students must be in possession of four passes* at SEC/O Level (MQF Level 3). 

* Passes must be in:
(i) the Secondary Education Certificate (SEC) at Grade 5 or better issued by MATSEC
OR
(ii) MQF Level 3 for those subjects not offered by MATSEC
OR
(iii) DQSE accredited GEM16+ Level 3 (equivalent to one pass)

Probationary Students

Students who are not in possession of full entry requirements but will be sitting for the SEC Second Session in September 2024, may be eligible to apply as probationary students. Probationary students need a minimum of three passes at SEC/O Level at Grade 5 or better in the SEC First Session in May/June 2024.
