On Monday 8th April, students of the GCHSS Drama Troupe and Music Department visited The Manoel Theatre and Spazju Kreattiv in Valletta accompanied by Ms Karin Catania and Mr Marco Calleja. Students where given an insight into the history of this cultural site, the third eldest theatre in Europe. Following a discussion of how the Manoel Theatre and theatre in Malta evolved through the ages, students where given a tour of the theatre, dressing rooms, rehearsal studios, wardrobe, backstage and the theatre under-stage areas including the underground passageways which link the Manoel Theatre all the way to the Auberge d’Aragon and the Mediterranean Conference Centre. Students then visited Spazzju Kreattiv with its small cinema, numerous studios and exhibition spaces. This trip was organised by Mr Marco Calleja as part of the GCHSS performing arts programme with aim of giving students an insight into professional theatre and promoting cross-collaboration between the Music and Drama Departments.  Heartfelt thanks to Ms Elizabeth Ebejer, CEO of the Manoel Theatre CEO and all the theatre staff for their support.
