Samsara is a social enterprise founded by four higher secondary students, Francesca Maria Sant, David Bugeja, Justin Xerri and Nathan Abela, under the Junior Achievement Young Enterprise Company Programme. The programme saw 16 JAYE companies from sixth forms across Malta competing for the prestigious title of HSBC Company of the Year.

After setting up their own company in mid October, Samsara began manufacturing hand-made home decor items made from upcycled wine bottles and wooden pallets. Their product line features bookends featuring both candles and plants, as well as planters made from bottle bases. The competition reached its culmination on the 27th of May, the day of the National Finals and Awards giving ceremony.

After giving a stunning 4 minute presentation in the semi-finals describing its operations over the past couple of months, Samsara was amongst the six teams which were chosen to progress to the finals. During the awards ceremony, Samsara was the proud recipient of the HSBC Company of the year award 2nd runners up, as well as being nominated for the best business plan and quality excellence award. They managed to achieve such fantastic results thanks to the invaluable help of their link teacher, Ms.Marouska Vella, and their mentor, Ms. Lorraine Zammit.
