Matriculation Course (MC)
Duration
- Two scholastic years
Eligibility Criteria: Regular Students
- Students must have a minimum of five passes at MQF Level 3 (or equivalent), which must include at least two passes in either English Language, Maltese, or Mathematics.
- Passes must be in the Secondary Education Certificate (SEC) at MQF Level 3 issued by MATSEC, or their equivalent.
- Passes in subjects not offered by MATSEC are accepted only if at MQF Level 3.
- The DQSE accredited GEM16+ Level 3, AVC MQF Level 3 and ICT C3 Level 3 certificates are each equivalent to one pass.
Eligibility Criteria: Probationary Students
- Students, who do not possess all the entry requirements for the AIO course but will be sitting for the SEC Second Session in September 2026, may be eligible to apply as probationary students.
- Probationary students must have achieved a minimum of four passes at MQF Level 3 (or equivalent), including at least one pass in either English Language, Maltese, or Mathematics.
- Probationary students may only apply during the first call for applications since the second call is only open for regular students.
Course Content
- Two subjects at Advanced Level
- Three subjects at Intermediate level
- Systems of Knowledge (SOK)
- Students, who have obtained two of the three core subjects (English Language, Maltese or Mathematics) at MQF Level 3, will be required to study the third one at Higher when choosing the MC Course.
Subject Choice
- Subjects are divided into groups: students are to choose one subject from each of Group 1, Group 2 and Group 3, and two additional subjects from any group.
- Systems of Knowledge (SOK) is compulsory for students taking this course.
- No subject may be taken at both advanced and intermediate level.
- Students may study up to 1 subject at MQF Level 3, if applicable.
- Choice of subjects may be dependent on timetable constraints.
